The Secret To A 500 Word Article In 10 Minutes

Articles can be a big marketing boost for your website or blog. If your like me, writing them is a pain in the neck, especially if you are a slow typer. Well now you can pump out a 500 word article in about 10 minutes with the the help of Dragon Naturally Speaking. I use this software now, and it’s helped me to create articles for my niche markets in no time. Check out the video at the bottom of this post.

With Dragon Naturally Speaking you put on a headset, open your word processor and talk. What you say will be typed into the word processing document as if by magic. For those who don’t like typing or aren’t very quick typists this program is an absolute life saver. It’s very easy to talk in a natural voice and have the program understand you pretty well.

Nuance claims a 99% accuracy level. That means that out of 100 words you speak it will only make one error. Making an error isn’t a problem, though. Simply issue a command and it will pop up a window asking you to teach it the right word to use in the future. The more you use Dragon Naturally Speaking the smarter it will become about how YOU talk and what YOU mean when you say something.

In the past text to speech programs required you to speak with halting words. Hello…there…my…name…is… You get the point. When they released version 9 the naturally part became a reality. You speak just as you would normally and the program will adjust to your speech and to the speed with which you speak.

If more than one person chooses to use the software it will create a separate file for each user. That user’s unique voice recognition will become the basis for the software to ‘know’ what to type when the person speaks. Each new user will need to train the software to their own voice, though.

The program sales material may list a limited number of programs that it works with but I have yet to find any program that allows for typing that doesn’t automatically allow Dragon Naturally Speaking to turn your words into text. I’ve used it for email, word processing, online chat, just about everything.

A word of caution, though. It may be very annoying to train the software. Its training wizard is fairly simply compared to previous versions. I’ve spent hours doing the initial training with previous versions. They made it as far as my computer and through the initial training but for practical purposes were worthless. Version 9 takes only a few minutes and is easy to keep training for higher accuracy afterwards.

If you’re using Windows Vista be sure to get version 9.5 for it to work properly. You may have to purchase version 9 and then upgrade through the site. You’ll need an active internet connection to activate the software. The headset that comes with it works but I’d recommend a good Logitech USB headset.

You can find dragon naturally speaking on ebay at a CHEAP price. Be sure to read the ebay description, some sellers don’t include the headset.

I’ll wait for the USB implant that connects my brain to my computer. ;-) I can type perhaps faster than I talk, or close to the same rate at least, so not a lot of time savings for me. Plus, if you take into account changes and editing as I go, typing is probably the best bet for me.

Now, I can think faster than I can type (thankfully!), so an implant might not be a bad idea. If I could write with my eyes closed, that would be superb. It would make things easier to write and watch TV or do something else at the same time too.

But then the implant would probably require surgery and I’m not sure I want people drilling into my head without a good reason and definite necessity.

This sounds really cool, I am going to check it out, often I have used my tape recorder for articles, but that is such a pain, because then I have to transcribe.
    Thanks for the heads up!
